"The Israeli occupation continues its relentless escalation in the Middle East, opening multiple fronts of aggression in an attempt to impose its hegemony over the states and peoples of the region, with complete impunity," the statement read.
"In this development with unpredictable repercussions, the Israeli occupation has reached, with its aggression against Syria, a brother country, an extremely dangerous stage, by targeting today government institutions and civilian infrastructure in Damascus and Al-Suwayda," the statement added.
Algeria "strongly" condemns this abject aggression, which constitutes "a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity and an attack on the unity of its people," expressing "its full solidarity with this brotherly country and its legitimate and legal right to preserve its security and stability, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and the rules of international law."
Algeria reiterates its urgent call to the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities to put an end to these repeated Israeli aggressions which have plunged the entire region into a spiral of insecurity and instability, without the slightest prospect of calming the situation or imposing the primacy of international law, the statement concluded.
