ALGIERS - The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received, on Monday at the ministry's headquarters, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Maxime Prévot, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a press release from the ministry.

On this occasion, the Minister of State held one-on-one talks with his Belgian counterpart, followed by a working session extended to members of the delegations of the two countries, the press release states.

These talks made it possible to "review the state of the relations of friendship and cooperation which unite the two countries" and to "examine the means of raising them to higher levels, in line with their immense potential", according to the same source.

In this regard, "both parties agreed on the need to take concrete measures to breathe new life into bilateral cooperation, particularly through the activation of monitoring mechanisms, the revision of the legal framework and the encouragement of interaction between the business communities in order to seize the partnership opportunities available in economic fields such as renewable energy, transport, mining, agri-food industries and pharmaceutical products," the statement said.

At the multilateral level, the two ministers discussed the association relations between Algeria and the European Union (EU) and joint efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and sustainable development in the Euro-Mediterranean area, the ministry said.

The two parties also "exchanged views and analyses on a number of current regional and international issues, including the Palestinian question, the latest developments in the Sahel-Saharan region and the Russo-Ukrainian war," the statement concluded.
