Djamaâ El Djazaïr: an architectural jewel and a unifying civilizational and religious center

Djamaâ El Djazaïr, inaugurated Sunday by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is a jewel of Islamic architecture and a religious, civilizational and scientific building which will work to preserve the national identity and the unifying religious referent of the nation.

Ranked the third largest mosque in the world, behind Al-Haram in Mecca and the Al-Nabawi mosque in Medina, and spread over a total area of ​​more than 27 hectares, Djamaâ El Djazaïr constitutes a real attractive center of religious, cultural and scientist.

Distinguished internationally by its minaret, the tallest in the world at 265 meters, this civilizational and religious center has a 20,000 m2 prayer room that can accommodate up to 120,000 faithful.

Djamaâ El Djazaïr also has 12 independent buildings including a large library with a million books and which can accommodate up to 3,500 people.

Its library, which includes a manuscript restoration laboratory, is responsible in particular for promoting the foundations of Islamic civilization and establishing cooperative relations with similar cultural and scientific establishments on a national and international scale.

A cultural center and a Quran house "Dar El Coran", dedicated to Algerian and foreign post-graduation students in Islamic sciences and humanities, are also part of the building.

“Dar El Coran”, named “Higher National School of Islamic Sciences”, is responsible for ensuring, among other things, high-level specialized training for the benefit of graduates of higher training and education establishments and the training of qualified executives. in the field of human and social sciences.

Several other structures are affiliated with Djamaâ El Djazaïr including the Scientific Council, responsible for disseminating "religious and scientific influence" on a national and international scale, highlighting "the religious specificity of Algerian society", the Center of research in religious sciences and dialogue of civilizations, whose mission is, for example, to carry out programs of scientific research and studies relating, in particular, to the promotion of the values ​​of moderation, the development of the values ​​of tolerance and the promotion of interreligious dialogue.

In addition, Djamaâ El Djazaïr has the Museum of Islamic Civilization in Algeria which exhibits to the public the preserved historical museographic funds, documents, images, recordings, films and everything relating to Islamic civilization and the authentic religious practice in Algeria.

The Urban Security of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr which includes teams from public security, the judicial police and the general police, as well as social structures reserved for housing the police forces responsible for securing visitors and all structures and spaces, was also put in place.
