EU reaffirms its desire to give "new impetus" to cooperation with Algeria

ALGIERS - The European Union (EU) aims to give "new impetus" to its cooperation with Algeria, said Florian Ermacora, head of the "North Africa" ​​unit within the European Commission department responsible for neighbourhood relations.

Speaking during a working visit to Algeria from 27 to 30 January, Mr Ermacora stressed the EU's commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two parties in the framework of developing a "new pact for the Mediterranean", according to a statement published on the EU's official website.

The aim of the visit was to conduct consultations with a view to defining the priorities for cooperation between the EU and Algeria for the period 2025-2027.

The European delegation included representatives from the departments responsible for neighbourhood, energy, home affairs, migration and foreign affairs.

During this mission, the delegation held talks with officials from several Algerian ministries, including those of Foreign Affairs, Energy and Mines, Hydraulics, Industry, Commerce and Finance.

She was also received at the Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Investments (AAPI).

The discussions focused on several areas of cooperation, including investment, trade facilitation, renewable energy, migration, culture and job creation, according to the same source.
