Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, confirmed on Monday in Oran that the Oran process has proven its pivotal role in strengthening the ranks of African countries and in raising their voice under the title of a united and strong continent, sovereign in its positions and decisions, and influential in international decisions.

Mr. Attaf added, “From this perspective, we very much welcome the practical results that our rich discussions led to to evaluate this promising path after the end of its first decade. These results will consolidate the gains and achievements that have been achieved and build on them to strengthen and fortify the African bloc in the Council.” Security and achieving higher levels of coordination and cooperation in service of the goals and priorities of our continent.”

Mr. Attaf also pointed out that “the group of African members of the Security Council has today become one of the most prominent political blocs in the Council and one of the most harmonious, synergistic and interconnected. We are also proud that our continent has become unique from other regional blocs in being able to define a continental covenant to which its representatives in this UN body are committed.” Central".

He highlighted that “the expansion of our African group in the Security Council to include in its membership countries that have decided to join under its banner, such as the Republic of Guyana, represents for us the most important indicator of the credibility and attractiveness that the group of three Africans has come to enjoy in a council that has become shackled by its contradictions, almost paralyzed by its divisions, and ineffective and influencing the course of action.” “The events are due to the intensification of polarization within it and the unleashing of the logic of power and conflict within it.”

In the same context - Mr. Attaf adds - “We greatly value the consensuses, commitments and recommendations that were formulated within the framework of this session according to a realistic and forward-looking view that essentially aims to adapt our collective efforts for a purposeful and effective response to the security and political challenges on our continent.”

“The matter relates in particular - the Minister added - to the phenomenon of unconstitutional changes of government, the spread of which has reached alarming levels that forced us to devote an entire session to discussing it and examining ways to confront and prevent it.”
