The inauguration ceremony of this important strategic infrastructure took place in the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the National People's Army (ANP), Army General, Saïd Chanegriha, the Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, Brahim Merad, the Minister of Hydraulics, Taha Derbal, as well as the heads of the national companies responsible for the implementation and local authorities.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic received a detailed presentation on the progress of the work and the stages of construction of this vital infrastructure, which covers an area of 18 hectares and ensures the supply of drinking water to the inhabitants of the wilaya of Boumerdès and several neighboring wilayas.
The realization of this large-scale project is part of the national program, decided by the President of the Republic for the construction of five large seawater desalination plants in the wilayas of El Tarf (Koudiet Eddraouche), Béjaïa (Tighremt-Toudja), Boumerdès (Cap Djinet), Tipasa (Fouka) and Oran (Cap Blanc), with a production capacity of 300,000 m3/day each, for a cost of around 2.4 billion dollars.
These large-scale projects, completed in record time thanks to national expertise and cutting-edge technologies, aim to strengthen water security and meet citizens' drinking water needs. They reflect the qualitative leap made by Algeria in strengthening its water security.
