"The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received, on March 26, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. José Manuel Albares, on an official visit to Algeria," the statement reads.
The meeting "allowed for a review of the state of Algerian-Spanish relations, as well as the promising prospects they offer, these relations currently experiencing remarkable momentum in terms of consolidation and diversification," the statement noted.
"In order to strengthen this dynamic, the President of the Republic informed the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs of his decision to reactivate the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourhood and Cooperation, linking
Algeria and Spain since October 2002."
The meeting took place in the presence of Mr. Boualem Boualem, Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, of the National Community Abroad and of African Affairs, Mr. Amar Abba, Advisor to the President of the Republic, in charge of diplomatic affairs and Mr. Abdelfetah Daghmoum, Ambassador of Algeria to Spain, it was recalled from the same source.
