On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of retired Russian Colonel Ivan Lytkin, a member of the demining unit that participated in demining operations on Algeria's eastern and western borders, a luncheon was held in his honor at the Algerian Residence in Moscow on April 15, 2026.
In his address delivered on this occasion, His Excellency Toufik DJOUAMA, Ambassador of Algeria to the Russian Federation, paid tribute to Colonel Lytkin and all the Russian soldiers involved in these operations. He reiterated Algeria's profound gratitude to these men who contributed to clearing the Algerian borders of mines.
The event was attended by the Defense Attaché at the Embassy, Colonel Samir BOUALLEG, along with several former Russian ambassadors to Algeria. Notable guests included Mr. Igor Beliaev, the current Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Sergei Cheryomyn, Minister of the Moscow Government for International Economic Relations, among other distinguished Russian figures.
