"The President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, sent a message of congratulations to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of his re-election for a new term, affirming that his convincing victory in the election testifies to the place of Mr. President among his fellow citizens," the statement read.
In his congratulatory message, President Putin expressed "his wish to raise the Declaration of Deep Strategic Partnership, signed last year between Algeria and Russia, to a higher level," the statement added.
"President Putin reaffirmed his determination to continue developing constructive bilateral cooperation through joint efforts in the best interests of the two Algerian and Russian peoples, in order to ensure regional stability and security," the statement concluded.
