The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that, starting on July 9, the date of entry into force for Algeria of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961 abolishing the requirement of legalisation of foreign public documents (Apostille Convention), public documents issued by several ministerial departments will no longer be subject to traditional consular legalisation procedures when intended for
use in States party to this Convention.
This measure concerns documents issued by the Ministries of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Justice, Higher Education and Scientific Research, National Education and Vocational Training and Education, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Citizens can apply for an "apostille" via the national platform dedicated to this purpose, accessible on the electronic website apostille.gov.dz, which will be accessible from July 9, or by going directly to the competent services under the aforementioned ministerial departments, authorized to issue this certificate, according to the same source.
Citizens can also obtain "apostille stickers" from tax offices or Algeria Post offices throughout the national territory, the statement concludes.
